The Middle-Aged Slump

I hear stories from soooo many people about, what I call the "middle-aged slump" which leads to the "middle-aged spread".

I hate that word...."middle-aged". 😠 Who even came up with that?
Regardless of the name, I fell victim to the myth. 

It was easy to make excuses about how, after age 35, the metabolism started to slow down and it got harder to keep the extra fluff off. Then, after 40, it got even harder. I was used to being able to eat just about anything I wanted and I was in denial that it wasn't going to work for me anymore if I didn't want that "middle-aged spread".

I wanted a magic pill 💊 or drink that would burn fat and speed up my metabolism.

I also fell into the excuses trap...

✔️️ I have kids and their activities make us so busy, I can't take the time to get to the gym.

✔️️ It's too expensive to eat healthy.

✔️️ It's not going to matter what I do, it's just part of getting older.

✔️️ Kids won't eat healthy foods so the meals have to include pasta and bread of they won't eat enough.

✔️️ I work full time and we're too busy to plan ahead on meals. Processed, read to cook or fast food is easier and more manageable. 

✔️️ There's just not enough time in the day to be consistent.

✔️️ When I do try to exercise or eat better, nothing I'm doing is working so why bother?


I settled into thinking that looking like a 40 year old soccer mom was inevitable. But, boy, was that depressing! 😡

I felt tired, sluggish and sad about it. 😫

One day, I just decided I was going to fight it. 👊Not EVERY 40 something has the middle-aged slump. So, why couldn't I be the exception rather than the rule?

I started by committing to ONE program for 30 DAYS. Spending the money 💵 on that program motivated me to actually start it. Being part of a community of people with similar goals held me accountable to sticking with it.

At the end of those 30 days, I realized that when you have a solid program to follow:

✔️️ It's not so hard.

✔️️ It doesn't have to be expensive.

✔️️ Healthy food can be kid friendly too.

✔️️ Consistently showing up every day will get results (I lost 4 lbs)

✔️️ 40 doesn't have to mean "middle-aged slump"

I lost some weight BUT I gained so much more. 
I gained:







What do they say? A body in motion, stays in motion. Same goes for a body at rest...it stays at rest. 


Not only did these 30 days change my life, but they gave me a passion for helping others do the same. 

That was a year ago. I decided to jump into being an online fitness coach so that I could MAINTAIN THE ACCOUNTABILITY that was working for me and PAY IT FORWARD by showing others what worked for me and making sure they know that they don't have to settle. THEY ARE WORTH spending 30 minutes a day on themselves. My PURPOSE is inspiring others to lead healthier lifestyles and pass that down to their families.
